a season of Blessings 0

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, September 24, 2017 @ 8:47 AM | ,

Hi there! One thing I miss about living in the northeastern US is the abundance of pretty fall foliage in my backyard. We are taking a road trip to Flagstaff located in northern AZ to soak in some of that natural beauty! With the change of seasons on my mind, I created a mixed media style Autumn art project featuring a homemade wreath on an 8" x 8" art board:
I was inspired by the September Mixed Media Place challenge moodboard for color:
To create the wreath, I die cut a collection chipboard of leaves, added lots of crackled texture paste then painted using a variety of glazes. In between the leaves, I tucked in some gathered twigs from my backyard :)
I embellished with a variety of metal trinkets:

I stamped and partially heat embossed a  sentiment using gold embossing powder. I wanted lots of texture on the background as well, so I using texture paste along with a stencil:
I'm also linking my project to the following sites: Stamps and Stencils challenge where we are challenged to use Metallics, Paint Party Friday and 30 in 30 Day 23.

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Happy Friday! Any fun weekend plans? Today I'm joining along with this week's PTI Make It Monday challenge where the challenge is to create a project Mixing Floral stamp sets.
I stamped the background using a combination of floral images from the PTI Bloomin' Cute and the Beautiful Bloom stamp sets:
Once I had the background stamped and die to to size, I embellished with stamped/die cut leaves and a decorative sprig from the Bloomin' Cute stamp set along with a die cut layered blossom on top:

For sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with the Freshly Made Sketches challenge:
Up next, is a small 8" x 8 "oil painting featuring a couple of hibiscus:
I'm linking my painting to this week's Paint Party Friday and 30 days in 30 Day 21.
Many thanks for stopping by!

Merry Christmas 21

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, September 20, 2017 @ 6:23 AM | ,

Hi! Today I'm joining along with the Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge where the challenge is to create a card featuring a decorated tag using texture, bling and die cuts.
Here's my take on the challenge:
For texture, I dry embossed a piece of watercolor paper, spritzed on Ranger Meadow Distress Ink, followed with spritzed water. Once dry, I randomly stamped and heat embossed some fun polka dots. I embellished the die cut tag with a die cut snowflake, die cut leaves and a sentiment strip then randomly adhered some bling:
Up next is a 9" x 12" piece of canvas paper that I have been practicing painting impressionistic style roses on using oil paints:

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great day / evening!

thanks and fall pear 14

Hi! Today I have a few projects to share. Up first, is a rather clean and simple thank you card that I made for a dear friend. I'm playing along with the Lift Challenge where the challenge is to create a text with alphabet dies or chipboard and partially create a pattern / image with stamps.
I die cut the letters x 2 using dies from my stash, randomly stamped floral images from various PTI stamp sets, adhered the layers together then adhered them to the card from. So simple! I'm looking forward to repeating this technique.
For color inspiration, I'm joining along with the Sunday Stamps challenge where You must use a minimum of 3 colors from the graphic below, plus you may also use a neutral of your choice.
Up next is an 8" x 10" oil painting featuring a fall pear:

Autumn wishes 25

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, September 16, 2017 @ 1:36 AM | ,

Hi there! Today I have a couple projects to share but before I get those I wanted to thank all of you who have asked about my sweet sister Marlene. I'm sad to share that Marlene has lost her fight against breast / brain cancer and is no longer suffering. I'm very grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

Shown below is a photo of Marlene and my dear niece Renee, Marlene's daughter that was taken last summer shortly after Marlene had received the terminal diagnosis that the cancer had metastasized to her brain.
Up first is a card that I made for my dear niece Renee, Marlene's daughter. Renee is 28 years young which is way too young to lose her Mom. Renee is a First Lieutenant currently serving in the U.S. Army as a Registered Nurse. My heart aches for her, her brother and my BIL.
I combined a couple of stamp sets from PTI. The pumpkins were stamped using a deep orange ink but I think the images appear more red than orange in the photographs.
For sketch inspiration, I'm joining along with the Fab Friday challenge:
Up next is an 8" x 10" still life oil painting:

Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great weekend!
