Happy February! Today I have a very clean and simple card to share featuring a fun die cut heart that was made using Die-namics TRANSFORM-ables Heart Full of Love along with pretty 13arts patterned papers.
To create this card, I simply layered a few pieces of 13arts patterned papers, stamped and heat embossed the checkerboard design from Distressed Background Blocks then adhered the beautiful die cut TRANSFORM-ables Heart Full of Love:

Hi there! Hope you are having a great day! One of the many things on my crafty 2014 New Year's resolution to do list is to participate monthly in the Tim Holtz's 12 tags of 2014. I tend to collect / hoard so many of Tim's products so I figured this would be a great way to actually use them! With that being said, here's my take on Tim's January 2014 tag

A Valentine's Day tag for Scott:
I dusted off and used the Tim Holtz Angel Wings die as well as the Tim Holtz Mini Clock Key & Pocket Watch die to die cut metal foil covered grungeboard. I embossed the pieces with various Tim Holtz embossing folders then applied alcohol ink (a technique I learned from Tim :). For the background, I combined all of the following of Tim's products: a stencil, Distress Ink, rub ons, stamps, a ticket and metal trinkets:
Just curious, do you have any crafty New Year's resolutions? If so, do share! :) Thanks so much for visiting!

Live... 43

Mona Pendleton | Sunday, January 26, 2014 @ 10:01 PM | , ,

Hi there! ! It's time for an all new Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge! Thanks to all who joined along with last week's challenge! This week's challenge theme was inspired by the following lyrics ~ "this is where the cowboy rides away..." Will you use Tim Holtz western stamps? Do something cowboy inspired? Maybe do something with a setting sun, or about saying goodbye? Maybe you'll be inspired by old western movies, the desert, cactus or just colors that remind you of the weld west. Feel free to run wild with the lyrics from a catchy tune of your own!

I was inspired to create a Western themed canvas collage featuring a photo of her very own Cowgirl Meredith:
I combined a variety of Western themed stamps:
textures using a Woodgrain embossing folder and embellishing with a variety of metal trinkets:
I combined a variety of colors that remind me of the Wild West including: Broken China Distress Paint, Frayed Burlap Distress Ink ad Tea Dye Distress Ink.
I added contrast and texture using Gesso and the Bubble Stencil
Thanks so much for visiting! Please be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT has created!

a Beautiful Day 31

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! Today I have the card to share that I made for April which I will be giving to her this afternoon at her wedding shower. I combined beautiful patterned paper from the Pion Design A Day in May Collection along with a variety of Die-namics dies. MFT Inspired By Flowers Set #1. I wasn't quite sure what sentiment to use to create this card, so I decided on one from MFT Inspired By Flowers Set #1 which fit perfectly on a die cut heart:
The Decorative Doily and Fancy Flourishes were die cut using pretty Pion Design patterned papers and the flowers were from my stash.
I joined along with the current Vintage Cafe Card Challenge where the theme is all about Roses and for sketch inspiration, I joined along with MOJO Monday:
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you have a great day!

Delight in Life 42

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 24, 2014 @ 11:52 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! I hope you are having a great weekend! I'm so happy that I had a chance to play around and create another page in my art journal for The Documented Life Project. Week's two theme was to incorporate a photo of yourself in your journal.
I created the background with a variety of stamps from my stash ~ some dating back to 2007 ~ along with water color crayons. For a little extra design, I used the Petal Circles stencil.
I also made a very clean and simple birthday card for my Great Niece, Madison who will be turning 12 soon.
I stamped a trio of fun balloons from Heart Balloons on a Pierced Rectangle die cut using the following inks: Cotton Candy, Sno Cone and Orange Fizz.
For color inspiration for both projects, I joined along with the colour me challenge:
and for the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with the CAS(E) this sketch challenge:
Many thanks for stopping by ~ I hope you are having a great weekend!

love lives here 36

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, January 23, 2014 @ 7:05 PM | , , , , ,

Hi there! This week sure flew by for me, how about you? One of things on my to do list is to join along with The Documented Life Project. It's a weekly challenge of sorts that is meant to inspire all to get creative and play in an art journal. I'm feeling a little left behind but not too far that I can't catch up! Week's one theme was to create a page incorporating your front door
To create my page, I dug out Stampin' Up stamps that were from 2007 along with SU watercolor crayons that I am sure are older than that ~ many not even used!
I stamped, watercolored and doodled on a piece of water color paper:
I trimmed my paper to measure 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" then stitched it on an 8" x 8" piece of black cardstock. I stitched on a few pieces of patterned paper for contrast. I die cut a trio of hearts using Die-namics Hearts a Plenty die then stitched those into place as well. I certainly could have layered lots more and embellish my page BUT I am trying to focus on the "artsy" side of it and not get overwhelmed with the process.
Shifting gears 360 degrees, I have a rather clean and simple birthday card that I made featuring a variety of die cut pieces and a sentiment from Celebrate Big. April will be celebrating her 24th birthday at the end of January so this one is getting mailed to San Francisco tomorrow :)
I layered a die cut Fancy Butterfly on top of a Chocolate Brown Dizzy Doily then layered that on top of a couple of patterned paper Fishtail Flags
For color inspiration, I joined along with the colourQ Challenge:
and for the card sketch inspiration, I joined along with Freshly Made Sketches
Thanks so much for stopping by ~ I hope you enjoyed my projects!

Enjoy 46

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, January 22, 2014 @ 1:46 AM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you are having a great week so far! Today I have a layout to share featuring a photo that Scott took while we were on vacation in Venice. I love this photo because I think it looks like a post card. The beautiful resin frame was sprayed with a variety of the new Prima mists that I had the chance to play with while at the Prima Artventure a few weeks ago.
I combined various products from Prima's Cartographer collection including the patterned papers, buttons, flowers and chipboard embellishments:
I also used a few metal faucet trinkets from the Ingvild Bolme collection:
and an assortment of Prima flowers:
For added texture and design, I used a Prima stencil along with modeling paste.
For sketch inspiration, I joined along with Prima's January Build-A-Page sketch challenge:
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Be Sweet ;)
