Happy November 1st! It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for a new Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge and time to welcome the talented Miriam Napler who will be joining in the fun for the month of November! This week Beate is our Hostess and is challenging us all to create a project using the Out of the Box technique. All you do is stamp the image and let it partially hang out of the frame/shape. Beate has a fab video tutorial on Splitcoaststampers: Out of the box with Nestabilities if you are not familiar with this technique.
Being a newbie myself and never having tried the creative Out of the Box technique, I gave it a try and here's what I came up with:
I stamped the pretty sprig of Mistletoe from Meet me Under the Mistletoe ~ a set full of gorgeous images and coordinating sentiments ~ colored with Copic markers, trimmed around the part that was to hang outside the circle, then using a Spellbinders Classic Circle SM die template, I cut/embossed the image. I layered the image on top of a Lacey Circle and an Eyelet Circle die cut.
For sketch inspiration, I played along with the current Cardabilities Sketch Challenge:
Shown below are a few of the collections of Copic Markers from which I used a marker from:
G94~
C1~
E33~
Thanks so much for visiting! I hope you take on the challenge and for some awesome inspiration, please be sure to see what the rest of the DT has created: TammyHeatherSilkeMakikoCindyBeateMona (that's me), Miriam Napler (November Guest Designer) and visit the Flourishes site for COMPLETE details on how to join in on the fun!

Live laugh Love...CR84FN41#2 48

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 29, 2011 @ 8:55 PM |

Hi there! Hope you are all having a terrific weekend! Here today to share a card I made for the second week of the CR84FN41 Color Challenge. I would like to thank Cheryl, our Guest Designer, for sharing her wonderful creativity with us at CR84FN over the past 4 weeks!
For this week's sample, I made an "everyday" card of sorts using a combination of patterned paper from Pink Paislee and Melissa Frances.
I pulled out the PTI Embellishments stamp set and coordinating dies to make a few beautiful flourishes that you can see peeking out from under the Prima bloom:

Butterflies and vacation 40

Mona Pendleton | @ 9:39 AM | , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! Scott and I are at our home away from home in San Diego enjoying the beautiful California coast for a few days. There's always downtime in the evening or early morning hours so I brought a few supplies to complete another page in my art journal.
I'm having a lot of fun and enjoying the creative process as I work on my art journal pages playing with various mediums while combining some of my favorite "regular" products such as Spellbinders dies. I made a few butterfly stencils using two out of the five beautiful butterfly dies from Spellbinders Wonderful Wings.
Before leaving home, I created four background canvas's and like snowflakes, no two are the same!
Here's a pic of the supplies I brought with me to complete my art journal page:
Scott has been playing with the iPhone App called Hipstamatic. In case you haven't used it, it is a fun and cool photography app that allows you to alter your photos making them look like they were taken using an antique camera. So here are some photos taken while on our trip. This is a pic taken while we were eating lunch on the terrace at George's At The Cove in La Jolla. We were watching a few people swim ~ (yes swim in the 60 degree water temp) with the California seals:
I love the shimmery metallic pastel colors of these beach cruisers where we rented bikes on Mission Beach:
a whole rainbow of beach cruisers:
A view of Pacific Beach:
We stayed to watch the sunset:
This is Petco Stadium in our backyard:
Thanks so much for visiting ~ I'll be back at Midnight Eastern with a CR84FN share. Hope you have a great day :) Be Sweet!

My 1st Mixed Media Art Journal Page 53

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 27, 2011 @ 12:30 AM | , , , , ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a wonderful week! I'm really excited to have completed the first page of my newly started Art Journal. I've been wanting to take time to explore the world of Mixed Media and have finally made time to do so :) I've been admiring the work of a few various Mixed Media artists especially the ever so talented Roben-Marie. I stumbled upon her blog and instantly fell in love with her style so I signed up for an on-line workshop (Art Journal Conversion) and have been addicted ever since! If you are looking for either some amazing inspiration or are interested in learning some fun techniques, I highly recommend checking out what Roben-Marie has to offer! When you are there, please tell her I sent you :)

So here's Page 1 of my Art Journal:
I created this page, by mixing a boat load of various spays, inks, acrylic paints, molding paste and oil pastels. I love
I love the big purple heart! I used a Spellbinders heart die to make a stencil then using Liquitex Molding Paste, I spread on a "generous" amount to create the textured, 3D heart and various sized circles.
It wasn't so easy to capture the dimension in a photograph but it looks pretty neat up close and personal in my opinion :)
I had so much fun getting all inky and learning some new techniques. I can't wait to complete page 2! Thanks so much for looking ~ I hope you have a great day :)
Be Sweet!

Pink Paislee Hot hues October Inspiration 53

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, October 25, 2011 @ 8:37 AM | , , , ,

***I have TWO posts today ~ If you are looking for my Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge post, please continue to scroll down or click HERE ~ thank you :)

Hi there! Today I am sharing this project that I made as a Guest on the Pink Paislee blog. I would be tickled pink if you checked it out there as well :) (click HERE):

Such an awesome color palette that coordinates wonderfully with the Phantom collection!
Although the Phantom collection contains many products that may be used to create projects year round, I was inspired by this fab graphic to create a Halloween mini album that is jam packed with Phantom goodness.
Starting with the cover, I stamped a few images using Phantom - Clear Stamps above and below a ticket  shaped sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
The Phantom – Element Stickers pack contains so many spooktacular stickers! The page shown below features another ticket shaped sticker and a stamped cameo image:
I embellished this page featuring my step daughter Meredith with a home made rosette made using a piece of Phantom Pattern Paper – Apparition featuring a beautiful brad from Phantom – Brads and a piece of black lace from Vintage Vogue - Ribbon Trim:
Lovin' the variety of patterns from the Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper and how easily color may be added, making them totally customizable for ANY project. The page below features an inked green "honey comb" patterned Mistables paper with a fun image from Phantom - Clear Stamps:
I made a little sentiment banner by stamping the Creepy image from Phantom - Clear Stamps on a piece of Claudine Hellmuth's sticky back canvas:
Having a blast creating with Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper, I die cut this Spooky house, painted the pieces then stitched them on the page and topped it off with the HAUNTED sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
Lastly, this page features the ornate large SPOOKY sticker from Phantom – Element Stickers:
LOVE how the black acrylic paint makes the beautiful embossed patterns on the Mistables - 12 x 12 Paper pop:
Remember the Phantom collection contains many products that may be used to create projects year round making it another versatile Pink Paislee collection!

I hope you enjoyed my project today and are inspired to play with the October Hot hues colors! Looking forward to seeing what you create! Please remember to link your project here and upload it to the Live Pink Gallery as well. Be Sweet!

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday FTTC141 63

Hi there dear blogging friends! It's Tuesday so that means it's time for another Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge! This week, Makiko is our Hostess and she is challenging us all to focus on TREES AND/OR LEAVES NO FLOWERS! So all you have to do to play along is use a tree/leave image(s) as your focal point.
I immediately thought of the beautiful silhouette image of the gorgeous Christmas tree from the A Season of Celebrations set!
To create this quite CAS card, I stamped the image using VersaMark ink then heat embossed using fine white embossing powder. LOVE the way that image seems to come alive! The  A Season of Celebrations set is full of so many images that may be easily mixed and matched and if being a colorist isn't your claim to fame then this set is PERFECT for you! You don't even have to take the extra step of heat embossing, all you have to do is ink up one of the silhouette images with your favorite color of ink. Doesn't get much easier than that!
Thanks so much for visiting! For some wonderful inspiration, please be sure to see what the rest of the DT has created: TammyHeatherSilkeMakikoCindyBeateMona (that's me), Rosemary Dennis (October Guest Designer) and visit the Flourishes site for COMPLETE details on how to join in on the fun!

Tea cup BINGO...CR84FN41 51

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 22, 2011 @ 8:55 PM | , ,

Hello there! Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! Not a whole lot going on around here ~ just a relaxing weekend with my honey :) It's time for a new CR84FN Color Challenge. Thanks to all who played along with CR84FN40 ~ so many wonderful projects and thanks to those who support the challenge! For the next two weeks, we will be playing with the pretty color combo shown below:
I made this card for my sweet sister Tina. Her job is requiring her to travel out of town for the next 4-6 weeks. I can't even tell you how much I am going to miss her :( She enjoys drinking herbal tea from Aveda so I bought her some to enjoy while on the "road".
To create this card, I inked up the sweet little tea cups from the PTI Tea for Two set for the very first time! Only took 6 months or so! YIKES! The mini BINGO card is from PTI's It's Official and the background was stamped using PTI's Background Basics: Newsprint.
Thanks so much for swinging by ~ hope you like what you see!
