Happy Birthday April! 45

Mona Pendleton | Monday, January 31, 2011 @ 11:52 PM | , ,

Hi there! Hope you all had a great weekend! I went on a last minute~spur of the moment weekend trip to CHA with my sweet friend Stephanie. Oh my goodness! We had a great time, meeting up with friends and drooling over all the new papercrafting products that will soon be hitting the shelves! I made this card for my son's sweet girlfriend, April who turned 21 today! Happy Birthday April :)
After seeing ALL the dreamy designer papers that will soon be available, I figured I would put some sweet patterned paper from the girl's paperie to good use. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's Card Patterns Sketch 100:
I stamped the jar image from PTI's Friendship Jars first then the polka dot filler and trimmed around the edges. I inked the lid up with VersaMark ink, embossed with silver embossing powder, colored with various Copics then trimmed around the edges.  I don't own any PTI dies yet but I am thinkin' they would make my crafty life easier and save me time rather allowing me to create more!? Have you used PTI dies yet? If so, any tricks of the trade that you would like to share with me? :)
That's all for today ~ thanks for looking! Be Sweet :)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: PTI Friendship Jars
Die Templates & Machine:  Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® S4-190 Labels Four, S5-025 Labels Seventeen, GC-001 Grand Calibur
Patterned Paper: the girl's paperie

I JUST love YOU...CR84FN13 54

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, January 29, 2011 @ 9:57 PM | , ,

Hi there! It's time for another CR84FN Color Challenge! These colors are a little brighter and bolder than last week's. For some unknown reason, my creative brain seems to turn to mush when faced with bright colors but I LOVE a good challenge ;)
I combined various patterned paper with a stamped piece of my own using Musical Backgrounds. When in doubt, I seem to turn to background stamps to create whatever color of paper that I need.
I stamped a label using Holiday Labels. No.14 and layered with an oval bearing the sentiment I JUST love YOU and a heart from Sweethearts.
That's all for today, I hope you are able to join in the fun! Can't wait to see what you create! Thanks for taking the time to visit ~ Be Sweet :)

Please be sure to visit the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site to see what the Mischief Makers and the other Waltzingmouse Design Team Members have created.  Here's my take on this week's sketch:
Rather than a flower, I made a butterfly paper embellishment, adorned with a Webster's Pages fabric flower and adhered using a pearl brad.

Up close, you can see the beautiful embossed detail in the Very Vintage Labels No.2  image.

Happy Foreverness 63

Mona Pendleton | Friday, January 28, 2011 @ 3:55 AM | , ,

Hi there! T.G.I.F.! Are you all ready for the weekend? Any BIG plans? Not sure what's going on in my corner of the world but I do know that I am going to be one tired girl :( My hubby's job requires him to spend a night away from home every now and then and tonight was one of those nights! I never sleep very well when he is away~I hear every creek in the house and have a difficult time falling asleep so I thought, "why fight it?" just stay awake and make a card or two!!! Now it's 3:35 AM and here I am... YIKES!!!
I have had so much going on, I forgot to mention that I have a card being featured over on the Melissa Frances blog! YIPEEE!!! You may want to pop on over (click HERE) to see not only my card but ALL the gorgeous product that is being revealed for Spring/CHA :) I made this card using some pretty Melissa Frances DP and a few of my other favorite products. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's MOJO Monday week 175. My friend Stephanie Kraft was recently invited to join the MOJO DT and I am so happy for her! She has played with that sketch challenge blog for ages and there is no one more deserving that I can think of :)
One of the many things I love about Spellbinders die templates is the unique ability to not only cut/emboss but to stencil as well. See how I stenciled some pink ink around the decorative border and center of the doily as well as the banner? I love having that option ~ do you take advantage that feature when using a Spellbinder die template?

That's all for now ~ I better get some rest. Hopefully I just won't lie there listening to the wind blow the palm trees! Have a great day and would love to hear what you have planned for the weekend?! Be Sweet :)

Get Well Wishes 46

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, January 27, 2011 @ 12:06 PM | ,

Hi there! Hope you are all having a wonderful day!  I had some "me" time so I made a Get Well card using some pretties I recently found while browsing around my local craft store.
I came across this gorgeous K&Company patterned paper and coordinating epoxy stickers. The colors are a bit out of my norm but I am lovin' the soft earth tones. What do you think? When paired with a doily made using a die from S5-040 Floral Doily Accents collection and a lil' tag stamped with a sentiment from Afternoon Tea Sentiments it all came together.
Thanks so much for looking - hope you have a great day! Be Sweet :)

PTI January Blog Hop Challenge 106

Mona Pendleton | Tuesday, January 25, 2011 @ 8:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! Here today to share a card I made for the PTI January Blog Hop Challenge. It has been months since I participated and I am so happy I had a chance to play this month! Nichole is challenging us all to use a Papertrey stamp set that either has not seen ink or one that may be collecting dust. (We all know how that goes!)
I blew the dust off Spiral Bouquet and got busy. I was inspired by a card created by Betsy Veldman (click HERE to see Betsy's gorgeous sample!). I loved the way Betsy shared how she stamped the flower die cut with the images from Spiral Bouquet giving a plain flower a whole new look! Thanks Betsy for sharing your "secrets" with all of us :)
The pretty flower shown above was cut/embossed using two of the S5-050 Rose Creations die templates and layered upon a lil' doily cut/embossed using a S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs die template.

Thanks for looking! Can't wait to see all the inspiration along the hop :)

A Friendly Valentine 50

Mona Pendleton | Monday, January 24, 2011 @ 2:54 AM | , , ,

Hi there! I hope you all had a great weekend :) What did you do? Did you watch football or spend time getting crafty? Scott enjoyed watching football and I had fun playing with my crafting supplies. We did go for a hike up South Mountain and we even made it to the gym (my other healthy addiction).
I'm here today to share a Valentine's Day card that I made for the JustRite Friday Challenge #047 which is to create a love, wedding or anniversary project. With my crafty girlfriend, Caroline, in mind I created this card. For sketch inspiration, I played along with Card Patterns #99 sketch:
I inked up the sweet heart image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored using the Copic markers shown below, stitched on a lil' button then using a  S4-116 Standard Circles SM die template to cut/emboss the heart image. I then stamped the sentiment and using a S4-304 Eyelet Circles die template to cut/emboss circular shaped sentiment. I pulled out Cherry Limeade Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and colored some white seam binding to coordinate with my card.
Shown in the photo below, are the Copic markers I used:
Thanks so much for visiting and I hope you all have a great day :) Be Sweet!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: JustRite Stampers: Stitched with Love Borders & Centers
Die Templates & Machine: Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® S4-304 Eyelet Circles, S4-116 Standard Circles SM, GC-001 Grand Calibur

I LOVE you...CR84FN12 56

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, January 22, 2011 @ 9:57 PM | , , , ,

Hi there! Here today with an all new CR84FN Color Challenge! I am thrilled to pieces to see so many players join in the fun week after week and to see so many sweet friends sign up to follow the challenge :) Many thanks! I made this rather Clean and Simple card of sorts:
I paired some Melissa Frances DP with My Mind's Eye, stitched on a bit of lace, adhered an embossed/sanded foil heart then topped off my card with a lil' paper doily, a beautiful pink paper rose and a tag bearing the sentiment I LOVE you from Sweethearts
In case you haven't noticed, I am really lovin' Spellbinders Pearl colored foil especially combined with the S4-296 Nested Hearts die templates! I wish this was sold BULK in a roll ~ I am sure it would sell like hot cakes! Up close, you can see all the gorgeous embossed detail design on the heart die cut:
Here's a pic of the 3 various size hearts that are included in the S4-296 Nested Hearts set and a sample of each size cut/embossed and sanded using Spellbinders Red Premium Craft foil:

That's all I have for today! Thanks so much for looking and I sure hope you hop on over to visit the CR84FN Design Team's projects: Sue, Suzanne, Heather, Lisa, Deborah, Meredith, Stephanie and Andrea for some awesome inspiration!

A Vintage Heart...WMSC31 52

Mona Pendleton | @ 1:00 AM | , ,

Hi there! Any big weekend plans? Not sure what my hubby and I are going to do but I know it will hopefully involve football and crafting time :) It's time for another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge and don't forget about the celebration that is going on with Waltzingmouse Stamps! Please be sure to visit Claire's blog for COMPLETE details!
I have to admit this sketch was quite the challenge for me ~ so I had to take some liberty with this one :) The wavy border is what threw me for a loop so I pulled out a LF-161 Grand Labels One die template to create the border. What do you think? Close enough?

To make the lil' tag I inked up the WITH love sentiment from Sweethearts ~ this set is jam packed with so many beautiful & useful sentiments & images that can be used year round to make projects for your loved ones! The Vintage heart embellishment was made using a combination of a S4-296 Nested Hearts die template and a piece of Pearl Precious Metal Premium craft foil. Once I cut/embossed the heart shape, I used a fine sanding block to reveal the metal underneath. I LOVE the Pearl foil ~ my FAVE color!
That's all for today ~ thanks so much for looking! Please visit the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site for more inspiration from the Mischief Makers & some of the Waltzingmouse DT :) See you tomorrow for an all new CR84FN challenge!
