Mona Pendleton | Sunday, October 31, 2010 @ 8:00 AM | ,

Hi There! I hope you are all having a great weekend! I have some exciting news to share and a new CR84FN color challenge :) I am finally able to spill the beans! The sweet and wildly talented Taylor Van Bruggen, Owner of Taylored Expressions has invited lil' ole me to join her and her super creative Design Team as a Guest Designer over the next TWO months. My official Guest Designer responsibilities begin this Thursday, November 4th. If you are not familiar with Taylored Expressions, please be sure to visit her on-line store (click HERE) to see all the fantastic stamps and accessories available for purchase. Surely, you may find something you NEED :)
On to the CR84FN color challenge - Thank you for the kind words, encouragement and support with this new adventure :) There were 23 fabulous entries!!! Many thanks to all those who played along :) Since this color challenge is about creating and having fun, I would like to invite ONE randomly selected participant as the CR4FN3 Guest Designer :) Without further ado:
Laurel, I would be honored if you would join along as my Guest for next week's challenge. Please email me by Monday, November 1st 9 PM Eastern so I can get the details to you!
The gorgeous photos displayed in the graphic are courtesy of Leslie from a creative MINT.
If you have never visited her site, please be sure to head on over there and see what you have been missing! Here's my interpretation:
To create this card, I inked up the graceful dove image from Sparkle & Cheer with VersaMark ink, embossed with silver embossing powder then using a S4-116 Standard Circles SM die template to cut/emboss the image and layered upon on a multi-layered flower embellishment. For sketch inspiration, I played along with this week's Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge
Sparkle & Cheer is full of many elegant images that can be easily mixed & matched to create beautiful Holiday projects.
Thanks for looking & I sure do hope you play! Be Sweet :)

Now for the CR84FN Challenge details:

I would like to invite ONE randomly selected participant as the next challenge's Guest Designer :) I would like to keep things on an even playing ground so in order to do so, all you need to do is follow a few simple guidelines:

*Please display the CR84FN graphic with your post if you have a blog. Leslie graciously offers her photos as inspiration and I would like to give her proper recognition. My dear hubby Scott takes the time to create the graphic. Seeing the graphic makes it much easier to locate your entry on your blog.

*Please do not combine the CR84FN with any other COLOR challenges.

*You are more than welcome to submit as many creations as you like however, the number associated with your first entry will be the number considered in the random generator.

Once you have your project photographed and uploaded to your blog or on-line gallery, please link the URL to your entry on this post using Inklinkz. If you use an on-line gallery, please be sure to use CR84FN2 as the keyword and if you have a blog, please display the graphic so I can easily find your entry. Jingle Bells...WMSC21 55

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 30, 2010 @ 12:00 AM | ,

Hi There! Here today to share the card I created for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge - I hope you feel inspired to play along :)
This is such a fun sketch to play with! I made a lil' pocket using some Fancy Pants DP then stitched it to my card & finished it off with a bit of lace trim. I inked up an image from Holiday Labels No. 14 with VersaMark ink, embossed with white embossing powder, stamped the Season's Greetings sentiment from Compliments of the Season then I used a S4-290 Labels Fourteen die template to cut/emboss the label.
I wanted to show you the complete tag shown in the photo below. To create the tag, I inked up the decorative label image from Very Vintage Christmas  with VersaMark ink, embossed with white embossing powder, stamped the Jingle bells sentiment from Seasons of Love - Tag and finished it off with a few lil' jingle bells!
Close up, you get a good look at all that beautiful embossed detail. I realize I sound like a broken record BUT I love all the fine detailed artwork that Claire uses when designing her stamps & that detail not only stamps but embosses so well.
That's all for today - I hope you have a great weekend! Any fun plans? I will be spending my Saturday working but I work a 6 am - 2:30 pm shift so there is plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful weather when I get home :) Tomorrow, I have some exciting news to share so if you are not busy, please feel free to visit :)

If you find some crafty time, please feel free join along with this week's sketch challenge. After you have made your project, please head on over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge site, link your post & be sure to see what the other Waltzingmouse DT girls & Mischief Makers have created. If you post your creations in an on-line gallery, please label it WMSC21 so we won't miss them! Note: you may use any stamps of your choice in our challenge entries. Of course, we love to see what you create using Waltzingmouse Stamps images, but they are not required to play.

***Please be sure to upload all of your Waltzingmouse Stamps cards/projects in the Gallery.

I Spy With My Little Eye... 62

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 28, 2010 @ 2:47 AM | ,

Hi There! Yesterday, I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and while I was browsing around the papercrafting section, you are not going to believe what caught my eye: Yep! That is THE NEW SPELLBINDERS™ GRAND CALIBUR die cut machine already on the stores shelves!
I could not help myself - I had to take a photo! Maybe the stores will hold a hands on demonstration for customers! If so, you won't want to miss it! You are not going to believe how amazingly well the Grand Calibur cuts & embosses all the various sized Spellbinders™ die templates including the NEW - ONE of a kind - Grand Nestabilities® Have you spotted the Grand Calibur die cut machine yet in your local craft store? If so, where? please do tell :)

I have this card to share that I made for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC90) where Guest Designer, Linda Coughlin is challenging us to Anything Goes But Buttons and Bows! YIKES! I can't remember the last time I didn't use a bow! Using a LF-161 Labels One die template to cut/emboss the card front made for an awesome sized canvas ;) I had plenty of room to stamp the lovely Friendship quote from Flourishes Gerber Daisies Stamp Set.
I created a multi-layered butterfly embellishment using a butterfly die template from S3-146 Butterflies Two which I then mounted on a paper doily made using a S4-293 Lacey Circles die template. I love the unique feature of the Spellbinders™ die templates that allows you to cut, emboss and stencil ALL in ONE!
That's all I have for today! Thanks so much for visiting - Be Sweet ;)

Come Play With Me...CR84FN1 54

Mona Pendleton | Monday, October 25, 2010 @ 4:57 PM | , ,

Hi There! If you have visited here before, you know how much I love a good challenge right? So I thought I would give a try at hostessing a color challenge of sorts right here at Cupcake's Creations?! Hope you join the fun and play along :)

Here goes nothing...
I had to come up with a neumonic for online galleries and since CCC and CCCC were already taken, I thought CR84FN meaning: Create For Fun would suffice.

The gorgeous photos displayed in the graphic are courtesy of Leslie from a creative MINT. Leslie is quite an accomplished artist and has an amazing blog full of photos that I could spend endless hours just gazing upon! You can imagine how I happy I was when she gave me permission to display her beautiful artwork as inspiration :) If you have never visited her site, please be sure to head on over there and see what you have been missing! Here's my interpretation:
For my sample, I combined many of the lil' images from Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy Stamp set to create the: holly leaf BG paper, the lil' tag, the peppermint candy BG paper & the Gingerbread Girl.
Close up, you can see all the embossed detail on the Gingerbread girl image! Doesn't she looks Scrummy? :)

Now for the CR84FN Challenge details: Once you have your project photographed and uploaded to your blog or on-line gallery, please link the URL to your entry on this post using Inklinkz. If you use an on-line gallery, please be sure to use CR84FN1 as the keyword and if you have a blog, please display the graphic so I can easily find your entry. I hope you come join along and Create For Fun!

Challenge runs from Monday, October 25th - Sunday, October 31st Midnight EST.

Thanks for looking & I sure do hope you play! Be Sweet :)

Jars of Waltzingmouse Treats...WMSC20 55

Mona Pendleton | Saturday, October 23, 2010 @ 12:00 AM | , ,

Hi There! It's Saturday, so that means it's time again for another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! I have been anxiously waiting to share these darling lil' canning jar die cuts made from a Spellbinders® die template and stamped full of yummy Waltzingmouse treats :)
I inked up a few of the different lil' sweet treats from Oven Fresh Gingerbread Joy Stamp set & filled each jar with just a smidgen of each :) This set if FULL of soooo many darling images, I am sure you would find something to tickle your fancy!
To create the lil' tag, I stamped a label image from Holiday Labels No. 14 on Kraft cs, followed with the MERRY CHRISTMAS sentiment from Seasons of Love - Tags then using a S4-290 Labels Fourteen die template to cut/emboss the image. Up close, you can see the beautiful embossed edges on each jar - one of the unique features of the Spellbinders die templates.
I used the Copic Markers shown in the photo below, to add a lil' shading to the jars:
Here are the steps taken to create the lil' jars of treats:

That's all I have for today! Thanks so much for stopping by - Be Sweet :)

Merry Christmas 47

Mona Pendleton | Thursday, October 21, 2010 @ 11:03 PM | , ,

Hi There! Are you all as happy as I am that it's Friday? YAHOOOO!!! I am looking forward to spending time at home this weekend, hanging out with my family and having some crafty time while Scott (my hubby) enjoys football! Do you have any BIG weekend plans? It rained every day while we were hanging out in San Diego but we enjoyed ourselves regardless. We ate at a few of our favorite restaurants, did a little shopping and went to see a movie. We spent the evenings just hanging out at "home", relaxing and creating :) I made this Christmas card using some yummy products:
I LOVE Melissa Frances products especially this new Home For The Holidays line that you see here on this card. I inked up the A Merry Christmas to you sentiment from Very Vintage Christmas stamp set then using a S4-116 Standard Circles SM die template to cut/emboss the image. I am loving using the S4-293 Lacey Circles die templates to make lil' doilies!
For a pop of color, I made a Poinsettia embellishment using S4-219 Nested Poinsettias die template and the wee lil' paper pieced Holly leaves in the lower right corner. To create leaves, I inked up the Holly leaf image from Very Vintage Christmas stamp set stamped, colored with a Copic marker, inked the edges with distressing ink then very carefully, cut them out using a sharp scissors. I crinkled them up in my had for an aged look.

Thanks so much for visiting today! I will be back Saturday with another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. Have a fab Friday & hope to see you sometime this weekend :) Be Sweet!

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Christmas stamp set

Thank You Kindly...PDCC52 55

Mona Pendleton | Wednesday, October 20, 2010 @ 9:00 PM | , ,

Hi There! Here today to share a card I made for the ONE year anniversary celebration for The Play Date Cafe Creativity Challenge. Julie has invited me to join along in this SPECIAL event! Please be sure to visit The Play Date for COMPLETE details!
Along with some of my favorite products, I used a special flower that was hand crocheted by my dear sister Tina :) Tina will be surprised to receive this card as I made it for her while out of town this past week at my "home away from home" in San Diego. Have you noticed the stitching on my cards lately? I had to sew the "old fashioned" way using a needle and thread because although I do travel to San Diego with a limited number of supplies, a sewing machine is not one of them! :) LOL

Isn't this color story gorgeous? I love all the pinks, oranges & yellows :) Pure elegance!
Close up you can get a good look at the embossed detail in the lacy heart image from Seasons of Love - Tags. One of the many things I appreciate about Waltzingmouse stamps - not to mention the fact that sooooo many of Claire's fabulous designs coordinate with Spellbinders™ die templates! BONUS & a match made in my stamping Heaven ;)
That's all I have for today but ALL the girls at The Play Date Cafe have some amazing samples to gaze upon so, please be sure to stop by & see what they have to offer for inspiration!

Thanks for visiting - Be Sweet!

Happy Halloween 65

Mona Pendleton | Monday, October 18, 2010 @ 10:13 PM | , ,

Hi There! Hope you are all off to a great start of a new week :) While shopping at my favorite papercrafting store yesterday, I came across some fabulous finds! The DP used on this card was one of those findings. Combining this darling DP with a few Waltzingmouse Stamps and Spellbinders™ die templates, I created this Happy Halloween card.
I love to heat emboss so many of Claire's images because the detailed designs seem to appear like magic when inked up with VersaMark ink & embossed with white embossing powder! You can surely see the awesome decorative detail in the label from Very Vintage Labels No. 1 that coordinates perfectly with a S4-161 Labels One die template. Claire treats us to lil' motif stamps tucked within quite a few stamp sets (on my loooong wish list for Claire is an ENTIRE motif/flourish set ;) The beautiful ornate motif in the lower right corner is from Very Vintage Labels No. 2 and is an example of these gorgeous designs.

For sketch inspiration, I played along with week's fabulous sketch designed by Kazan over at 2Sketches4You.
After inking up the lil' witch image from Midnight Feast with Memento Tuxedo Black ink using a S4-116 Standard Circles SM die template, I cut/embossed the image then layered her on top of a multi-layered scalloped circle embellishment & finished it off with a lil' rosette.
Have you found any treasures lately while out & about??? That's all I have to share today :) Hope you have a terrific Tuesday! Be Sweet :)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No. 1, Very Vintage Labels No. 2, Midnight Feast
